geml-spec/geml
GEML — a block-addressable document format built for LLM editing — with a DeepSeek Harness plugin.
GEML (General Expressive Markup Language) is a document format designed for LLM editing: blocks with deterministic #id addressing, block-level geml get/set mutations, native single-source module references, and profile-based domain vocabularies — so a model edits one block at a time and verifies, instead of re-reading and re-emitting a whole file to change one paragraph. The plugin wires GEML into DeepSeek Harness so the agent can author and verify .geml documents; the geml CLI stays the gate on whatever it writes back.
Install
dsh plugin --profile web add @geml/dsh-pluginCopied verbatim from the README's 'With an LLM' section, whose trailing comment ('web = the profile dsh boots by default; use your own profile name…') is the README's own. The README also documents a Claude Code one-command setup (npx -y @geml/geml skill install) and a Codex plugin path.
Compatibility
The README says the geml CLI runs on Node 22+, and that adding a new domain block requires zero parser forks or custom plugins because the grammar is forward-compatible (a processor must degrade gracefully on constructs it does not recognise, spec §8.2).

FAQ
- Do I need a parser plugin for every new kind of content?
- No. The README says profiles are a single-line declaration that unlock domain vocabularies with zero new syntax, and custom blocks instantly inherit the existing infrastructure (deterministic #id addressing, geml get/set, history).
- Is the format stable enough to use for real documents?
- The README states GEML 1.0 is released and usable for real documents — the repo's own specification is written in GEML and required to parse clean on every test run — with a strict conformance suite and a reference implementation.
