jwilson411/dsh-arxiv

dsh-arxiv is a small function plugin that registers exactly two tools - arxiv_search and arxiv_get - over arXiv's public Atom API, returning paper metadata and abstracts read-only with no API key, no PDF ingest and no state, and normalizing ids, versions and /abs/ or /pdf/ URLs.

dsh-arxiv lets a DeepSeek Harness agent look papers up on arXiv through two model-facing tools over arXiv's public Atom API. arxiv_search sends a query - passing through arXiv field prefixes like ti:, au:, abs:, cat: and all: when present - and returns up to 25 papers as objects with id, title, authors, published date, abstract, pdf_url and abs_url, while arxiv_get normalizes bare ids, versioned ids, arxiv: prefixes, /abs/ and /pdf/ URLs and pre-2007 forms like hep-th/9901001 to answer about one paper, keeping a version suffix so it never quietly answers about a different revision. It answers what has been written about something and what a paper is, reports where the PDF lives but never fetches it, and throws ARXIV_NOT_FOUND because arXiv returns HTTP 200 with an error entry for unknown ids.

Copied verbatim from the README's Install block; remove it with the same command using remove in place of add.

Compatibility

A small function plugin that injects tools as a hard dependency, so it waits rather than degrading, and owns nothing else. It is deliberately not a science platform: no PDF ingest, no full-text extraction, no embedding store, no citation graph and no reference manager. Read-only, no API key, no credentials and no state; the package's manifest declares dsh.bundle.patch so dsh plugin appends it to the profile's ordered dsh.profile.bundles list and its patch becomes a layer.
